Instilled Regard, coming off a controversial second-place finish in the Los Alamos Futurity, proved that he is a force to be reckoned with in a dominating performance in the Lecomte Stakes.
The big colt, who last raced in California, ran between third and fifth place as longshot Believe In Royalty set a moderate pace up front. The son of Arch then made his move on the turn, easily overtaking Snapper Sinclair and lengthening his lead to three-and-a-half lengths over Principe Guilherme. Snapper Sinclair hung on for third place.
Instilled Regard was part of a three-horse collision in the Los Alamos Futurity and was awarded a second-place finish after Solomini was disqualified for bumping the horse. He now has 14 points in the Kentucky Derby standings.
