Bolt d’Oro leads the pre-entries for the Breeder’s Cup Sentient Jet Juvenile, announced yesterday.
Other horses nominated for the premier 2-year-old race in America include Bahamian, Firenze Fire, Free Drop Billy, Givemeaminit, Golden Dragon, Good Magic, Hazit, Hollywood Star, Mendelssohn, Solomini, The Tabulator, and U S Navy Flag.
U S Navy Flag was also entered in the Juvenile Turf, and it’s likely he’ll be entered into that race, seeing as he is European-trained and the turf is more suited to him.
Horse Racing Nation gave the early edge to Bolt d’Oro with 2-1 odds, followed by Free Drop Billy at 5-1 and Firenze Fire at 8-1. All three colts have won races that are on the Road to the Kentucky Derby.
Although an important race, the Breeder’s Cup Juvenile isn’t exactly a marker for the next Kentucky Derby winner. Nyquist won both the Juvenile and the Derby, but Always Dreaming, this year’s Derby winner, wasn’t even entered in the Breeder’s Cup Juvenile. In fact, his first win didn’t come until January 25, 2017.
