Wellabled Takes Arlington-Washington Futurity

Wellabled became the first stakes winner for his father, Shackleford, as he crushed the large field in the $100,000 Arlington-Washington Futurity by 7 3/4 lengths.

Wellabled broke quickly and took the lead from the start, holding off challenges by Romeo O Romeo and Star Empire. But the favorite had plenty of run left in him and drew away to annihilate the competition.

It was the first Arlington-Washington Futurity win for both trainer Larry Rivelli and jockey E. T. Baird, even though both have entered the stakes numerous times and are a well known commodity at Arlington.
