Nyquist was the top weight carrier in the Jockey Club Experimental Free Handicap, released Friday, leading all horses with 126 pounds.
The filly Songbird was next with 125 pounds, followed by Swipe with 124.
The Experimental Free Handicap, published since 1935, gives horses a handicap weight based on a hypothetical race for 2-year-olds at 1 1/16 miles. Based on past performances, the higher the weight, the more highly considered the horse is.
Rounding out the top five for the colts were Brody’s Cause (121), Hit It A Bomb (121) and Airoforce and Greenpointcrusader at 120 each.
