Horse Racing Nation has put a list together of probable Breeders’ Cup Juvenile entries and gauged the possibility of them moving on to win the Kentucky Derby. Since the Breeders’ Cup began in 1984, only one horse, Street Sense in 2006-2007, has one both races.
Brian Zipse throws some surprises in there – most notably giving three-time stakes winner Nyquist a C in his chances – behind Conquest Big E, who has only one two maidens so far. But the rest of the field features the big names so far – Swipe- who he says is gaining on Nyquist with every race against him – Exaggerator, Greenpointcrusader and Brody’s Cause.
While it’s way too early to be making predictions for the 2016 Derby – some of the horses mentioned in this story will not even be remembered by Derby Day – it’s interesting to see which horses are already developing what it takes to go a mile and a quarter in May. Zipse likes Brody’s Cause, Exaggerator, and little known Unbridled Outlaw, mostly on his bloodlines.
