Exaggerator did not disappoint yesterday, taking an early lead at the first turn and holding off Sunny Ridge by a neck in the Delta Downs Jackpot Saturday. The 4-5 favorite, ridden by Kent Desormeaux, covered the 1 1/16 miles on a muddy track in 1:46.48, earning 10 points in the Road to the Kentucky Derby Series. A field of 10 horses will go to the post at today’s Delta Downs Jackpot. Despite Nyquist’s undefeated record and his comfortable win in the Breeder’s Cup Juvenile, there were still some naysayers who said he ran a slow race and would have lost to Songbird, who won the Breeder’s Cup Juvenile Fillies race.
